Parting is a plaster

Placed upon the heart
A source of pain and heartache
Even from the start.

And if you are sensitive
To the plaster placed on you
The parting remains painful
Though the procedure's through.

You can use the soothing ointments
You can take a pill or two
But the scar often remains
No matter what you do.

It's only when you lean
On the Beloved's chest
And pour out your heart
That you truly find rest.

The scar begins to soften
The markings, they subside
And His peace fills your heart
As you, in Him, abide.
